Pittsburgh District Lay Servant Ministries School Fall 2018 Mt. Lebanon UMC 3319 W Liberty Ave, Pittsburgh Lay Servant Ministries is a program to provide training opportunities and experiences to equip disciples of Jesus Christ to realize and respond to their personal call to ministry. Since each disciple is 'gifted' with one or more spiritual gifts (skills given by the Holy Spirit for the express purpose of serving the body of believers and thereby God), Lay Servant Ministries strives to help disciples become aware of their particular gift or gifts by offering educational events to enhance and develop the skill level necessary for the full fruition of these gifts. It is an excellent vehicle for servant ministry skill development and has aided thousands of church members to be better servants of Jesus Christ, to become stronger church family leaders, and to more capably assist their pastors.  Classes are open to everyone, not just Lay Servants  Classes are Friday, November 16, 6 - 9 pm, and Saturday, November 17, 9 am - 4:30 pm (except “Living Our United Methodist Beliefs” - see class for details)  The cost is $35, which includes the class book and lunch on Saturday, November 17 — if you need financial assistance, please contact your church or the Pittsburgh District Office  Please register and pay no later than Monday, November 5 — this will allow time for you to receive your book and prepare for class — you must read your book prior to attending class  Let us know if you will need childcare  All Pittsburgh District Lay Servants must take a class by December 31 to maintain your Lay Servant status, unless you’ve taken a class in another District or online in the last 3 years  Families are welcome to attend for celebration and refreshments at 4:45 pm on Saturday, November 17. You may register online at: https://wpa-reg.brtapp.com/PittsburghDistrictLayServantMinistries-201671

Consider Donating to North Hills Food Bank More than ever, Americans are depending on their community's social services to make ends meet. Stagnant wages and outsourcing of jobs overseas is causing economic instability for many. When unemployment assistance runs out and the heavily-slashed food stamps program can't cover a family's needs, many turn to food pantries in their neighborhoods. Please consider adding a few of the following items as you put your family's shopping list together: canned tuna, salmon & chicken and rolled oats. Your donations make a HUGE difference!
