Powered by Jesus (PBJ) Youth Group

PBJers generally meet on Sunday evenings at the church from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. for recreation, reflection and refreshments.  There are several mission projects PBJ sponsors every year, such as supporting an Indonesian child through Compassion, Operation Christmas Child, Friday Nightz Rock (after football season) and Northside Feeding/Our Daily Bread (Tuesday & Sunday).  In the past, PBJers have raised funds for ~ and learned about ~ CROP Walk, UNICEF, UMCOR, Church World Service, Heifer Project and Habitat for Humanity.  New projects and ideas are most welcome (currently discussing: Pittsburgh Project and The Woodlands).  PBJ is involved in various activities like planning & leading worship services (includes writing & performing dramatizations), participating in ecumenical youth/community events, staffing PBJ Café @ our rummage sales, attending & performing in music concerts (PYCO, PYPO, NH Bands, Winter Jam, Christian groups), and going on mission trips as well as United Methodist Youth quadrennial events.  Please see Rich or Gerri Czado for more information; phone:  412-901-9798 ore-mail: pinkhatlady2013@gmail.com

Powered by Jesus Youth Gear Up for Kansas City

Yes, it is difficult to believe that four years have gone by already! In that time period, Powered by Jesus Youth have had several of its members graduate from high school; only two current members were part of the contingent that attended Youth 2015 in Florida (with 4,000 other United Methodist youth). The theme for this United Methodist Church's Discipleship Ministries' quadrennial event is "Love Well" and will be held in the Kansas City, MO Convention Center July 10-14.

Our youth are very excited as they talk about joining thousands of young people and adults from all over the world. They look forward to hearing why folks "do" mission in their communities. As part of interactive small groups they'll share their faith & study the Bible, attend workshops on a myriad of subjects and be challenged to grow authentically as world-changing disciples of Jesus Christ.

If you've been at McKnight UMC for a few years, you've heard our youth report on how fantastic these Young People's Ministries' events are to attend. In fact, they've been life-changing for several of them! We've also been to SPLAT 2007 in Greensboro, NC and Youth 2011 at Purdue. At all of these events we've participated in various kinds of local mission (Children's Hospital, Feeding programs, Assisted Living facilities, Head Start, YMCAs and Goodwill).

As always, we thank God for the opportunities to serve and learn. We are grateful for a caring church family as well! We ask for your prayers, encouragement and support as we look to raise funds to cover registrations, lodging, transportation and meals. During a recent Circle Prayer at PBJ, one of our youth prayed that God would use us to strengthen each other's faith. We include all of you in that prayer!
